Date published: 02 April 2013
AN investigation has been launched into allegations that confidential information on 16 young patients at the Royal Oldham Hospital was found in the street.
The information, found in Liverpool, reportedly included details of names, illnesses and diagnoses.
It is believed to be a single sheet and was found by a member of the public
The hospital says the loss of data is “unacceptable” and is contacting the youngsters’ parents and guardians.
A spokesman for Pennine Acute Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “We take all incidents involving patient data very seriously. We will undertake a full investigation into how this document ended up in Liverpool.”
The Information Commissioner’s Office, the data protection watchdog, is also investigating.
