Woman ran away in her underwear after attack
Date published: 05 April 2013
A WIFE ran out of her home wearing just a bra and leggings to avoid another battering by her husband.
“It was cold and pouring with rain when she fled to a neighbour for help”, prosecutor Rachel Pavion told Manchester magistrates’ court.
Raymond McPhee (47), of Longfellow Crescent, Sholver, was convicted of assaulting his wife and given 56 days in prison, suspended for 18 months.
District Judge Paul Richardson said “This was an ugly incident and I can understand that the victim felt humiliated running into the street in her underwear.”
During a row last December, McPhee warned his wife “I am going to knock the blood out of you. I am going to kill you”.
Miss Pavion said hours later he dragged her by the hair into the back yard and punched and kicked her.
While being beaten her T-shirt came off and she managed to escape into the street when he tried to pull her back into the house.
McPhee, who maintained his innocence, had two previous convictions for assaulting his wife in 2008 and 2011 and was ordered to pay £430 in costs.
