Kilburn’s £432,000 pay off

OLDHAM Council’s former chief executive was given a pay off totalling £432,000 when he left his post at Waltham Forest Council in 2010.
Figures show councils in London have given 10,000 departing staff more than £200 million over the last three years - with Mr Kilburn, who ran Oldham Council from 1999-2008, topping the list.
He left Waltham Forest in June 2010 after fewer than two years and was given £50,000 in salary, £150,590 compensation and £231,623 in pension contributions.
Local government minister Brandon Lewis said: “I fail to see any credible business case for such eye-watering sums.
“It shows a lack of respect for the public purse and good councils want help to end this.”
