Oldham Athletic hope their plans for a three-storey, 2,328-seater stand with 11 executive boxes, a supporters’ bar, corporate facilities and 500-capacity function room will get the go-ahead from Oldham Planning Committee on Wednesday.
The committee will meet to discuss the club’s extensive proposals for an £11million building programme to replace the old Broadway Stand, demolished in 2008.
The idea has received widespread support from local people. Over 600 letters and emails of support have been received by the council. Another 500 signatures of support were signed in a book opened at the club. Only one letter of objection has been received.
The plans include a car park with 286 spaces and 26 disabled bays, plus room for coaches.
Latics chairman Simon Corney said: “The new stand is a very big deal for the club over the coming years. It will give us the chance to generate non-matchday income that over a long-term period can push the club forward and give us an edge over our closest rivals.”
