Cesar the day

A STAFFORDSHIRE bull terrier on the verge of being put down and a Bardsley woman who has battled cancer twice in recent years have found an ally in each other.

TV viewers will see world-renowned dog whisperer Cesar Millan match Deborah Barratt with the troubled hound in his new television series next week.

Deborah (50) and her son Oliver (17) travelled to the canine specialist’s centre in Spain as hopeful candidates to house an “unadoptable” dog, which is the premise of the show.

Deborah was judged to have the perfect canine compatibility for three-year-old Rosie, who had previously been returned three times and showed signs of abuse.

Freshly-rehabilitated Rosie is now loving life at her new home on Lees Street — and Deborah, who has recovered from battles with cancer in 2007 and 2011, admits it was a case of who rescued who?

She added: “I suffer from osteoarthritis and was obese; the best advice I was given was to keep moving and I wanted a companion for walks. When I saw Rosie I just fell in love with her.

“You can’t believe the change in her now, she is just so friendly and active — and has massively helped my health.”

Television audiences can see the show on the Nat Geo Wild satellite channel on Tuesday.
