Date published: 12 April 2013
AN Oldham man was killed when he got out of his car and was struck by a lorry on the M62 yesterday.
The incident happened shortly before 9am on the westbound carriageway between the Heywood and Middleton and Rochdale junctions.
The man, who hasn’t been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they were not sure why the man had got out of his Citroen Picasso, which was parked on the hard shoulder.
The westbound carriageway was shut between the junctions for two hours, but traffic was backed up for several hours afterwards.
