Freeman honour

VETERAN local MP Michael Meacher (73) is to become Oldham’s 23rd Honorary Freeman of the Borough since 1909.
The honour will recognise his service and dedication to the local community as an MP for 43 years, and his 29 years on Labour’s front bench.
He will receive a special certificate in July.
