Mother of two stabbed
A WOMAN quizzed over the murder of a mother-of-two in Chadderton has been bailed by police.

Farkhanda Younis (30), known to her friends and family as Jabeen, was found with fatal neck injuries in her home. A post mortem examination revealed multiple stab wounds.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old woman on Saturday before bailing her while they made more inquiries.

Flowers have been laid close to the terrace house in Bamford Street in tribute to Farkhanda, believed to be the mother of two children under the age of 11.

A neighbour told the Chronicle Farkhanda’s son, aged about eight, lived with her while an older daughter lived with a relative. Her son is believed to have been in the house when the stabbing occurred.

Farkhanda, believed to work in an Oldham furniture store, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Locals said Farkhanda, who came to Oldham from Pakistan several years ago, had relationship problems and had just left her second husband.

One said: “She was a very pretty, nice girl. We only really knew her to nod to and she was always pleasant.”

Head of Oldham Police Chief Superintendent Catherine Hankinson said: “We are doing all we can to provide some much needed answers for her family, who are clearly devastated by what has happened. We are keen to hear from anyone who has any information that may assist this investigation.”

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Marsh, leading the murder investigation, said “significant progress” has been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
