POLICE are searching for three men who almost cut off a man’s finger during a Chadderton robbery.

The masked gang, armed with a Samurai sword and a hunting knife, burst into the S and P convenience store on Coalshaw Green Road on Saturday evening and swung the weapons at two members of staff.

One of the workers, 22-year-old Mubasher Khan, raised his hands to defend himself and one of his fingers was badly cut by the sword.

Store manager Rajan Patel (24) needed stitches after his left forearm was slashed by the knife.

He said: “It is the first time anything like this has happened in 20 years of my family running the shop.”

Det Con Richard Whiting said: “This was a violent and reckless robbery carried out by three young men who were out of control.

“The injury one of the men suffered was horrific; it’s fortunate nobody was more seriously hurt.”

The men were white, in their late teens/early 20s and wore dark clothing.

The man with the sword wore a dark Adidas T-shirt with a motif on the front. Anyone with information can call police on 0161-856 8825 or 0161-856 4553, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
