AN operation targeting rogue traders and bogus callers has been hailed a success.
Counterfeit games and a stolen mobile phone have been seized by police in Operation Liberal, which saw police officers join forces with Trading Standards and the Health & Safety Executive to patrol and check businesses across Oldham.
In one Oldham shop, police seized a mobile phone which had been reported stolen, and 200 counterfeit XBox games with street value of £1,000 and an original retail value of £8,000.
Nearly 19 businesses were visited, and some owners will be visited again for follow-up inquiries.
A prohibition notice was also served on a builder regarding unsafe scaffolding.
Police arrested two men on suspicion of being in the country illegally.
