ANGRY . . . Wes Marchant outside his home where there are now three lamp posts
Controversy over lamp-post replacement has reached new levels of confusion as one householder returned home to find THREE lamp-posts in his front garden.
Wes Marchant is furious over what he considers to inadequate consultation from contractors EON and Oldham Council before new posts were erected at Rowanwood in Firwood Park, Chadderton.
Two of Wes’s new posts are within a foot of each other!
Wes demands to know why there are so many lamps outside his house.
“Our deeds clearly state that the end of our garden, which meets the kerb, is a service strip for utilities. We’re not disagreeing with that.
“We already had an old lamp post, then they gave us two new ones. So right now we have three, and one is outside the bedroom window.
“I’m concerned about the way they went about it.”
The Chronicle has reported on several stories across the borough about placement of new posts close to homes.
A spokesman for EON said: “We are aware of concerns from a number of residents on Rowanwood in Chadderton which we are working to resolve.”
