Academy tour

AN open day is taking place at Oldham Academy North on Saturday, 10am-3pm. Principal, Colette Burgess and staff will offer the public a tour of the £18.5 million building in Broadway, Royton.
PREPARE to be wowed with a musical extravaganze on Saturday. The Royal Oldham League of friends have organised a concert by the group Musical Friends. It takes place at Tara Leisure at 8pm. Tickets from 0161-652 1049 or pay on the door.
CROMPTON House School’s next PTFA meeting is on Tuesday, starting at 7.30pm. It follows a parents’ information evening on cyber-bullying at 6.45pm.
A FAMILY fun day in aid of Cancer Research UK takes place at the Bulls Head, Heyside, from noon-5pm on Sunday.
IN NEED of a good read? Then head down to the second-hand book sale at Heyside United Reformed Church. It runs from 12.30-3pm on Sunday. All proceeds to church funds.

FIND out what our ancestors ate, thanks to Royton Local History Society. Jan Dawson will look at three centuries of British food and what a ploughman really had for lunch. The group’s talk takes place at 7.30pm on Monday at Downey House, Royton.
LOCAL Olympian Shirley Emerson who won silver in the high jump in Rome in 1960 is the guest giving a talk at Royton Townswomen’s Guild. The meeting starts at 7.30pm on Tuesday upstairs in Royton Town Hall.
