Voters go to the polls

VOTERS have been taking to the polls today in the Alexandra ward by-election.
A seat became vacant when Higginshaw grandmother-of-six, Councillor Dylis Fletcher MBE died in February. She first represented the Chadderton South ward for Labour from 2004 and Alexandra since May, 2012.
Five candidates going for the Alexandra seat are: Neil Allsopp (Conservative), Zahid Mehmood Chauhan (Labour), Kevin Dawson (Lib-Dem), Derek Graham Fletcher (UKIP) and Miranda Meadowcroft (Green).
Thess polling stations are open until 10pm: Honeywell Lane Methodist Church, Hope Congregational Church, The Children’s Society in Holts Village, Alt Primary School, Broadfield County Primary School and 81 Barlow House, Eldon Street.
