THUMBS UP . . . Adam’s making great progress
A BRAVE Oldham boy recovering from serious injury will continue raising money for other sick children next month.
Adam McQuillan was eight when he was knocked down while running an errand near his home in Coverham Avenue, Roundthorn in 2011.
He spent 10 weeks in a coma and eight months in hospital recovering – and has astounded doctors with the speed of his progress. Adam recently took his first independent steps since the accident.
Adam (10), and his family have since worked to improve the lives of others involved in similar traumas by setting up Adam’s Wish and organising fund-raising events.
Next month one of these will see sponsored volunteers walk from Manchester Children’s Hospital to Uppermill Museum (June 2).
Adam’s mum Anita Claxton said: “A lot of people have already got on board to do the walk. Adam will also be taking part; we will push him all the way.:
The walk will raise money for Destination Florida, a regional charity which gives seriously ill children the chance to go on a dream holiday.
“The charity took Adam to Disney World where he had an amazing time,” said Anita.
The charity will attend the event to tell people more about their work.
Contact Anita on 07706806191 for more information and if you would like to sponsor or take part in the walk.
