Tuba player picked for youth orchestra
Date published: 24 May 2013
A 15-year-old Saddleworth tuba player is to join the Halle Youth Orchestra — only three years after taking up the instrument.
Tommy Tynan (15) of Springhead, took to the tuba so quickly he has already become a vital member of the Marsden Silver Prize Brass Band.
He auditioned for the youth orchestra – and heard the goof news only two days later.
He said: “It was quite a tough audition and I was a bit nervy, so it was a massive relief to have to wait only two days.
“I’ll be part of one of the best youth orchestras in the world and will play with really talented musicians.”
Tommy will tour the North-East with the Halle this summer
