Things getting scary in Delph
Date published: 24 May 2013
IF you are visiting Delph this weekend, be prepared for a scare!
The sixth annual Delph Donkey Scarecrow Trail starts today.
Dotted around the circular route that runs throughout Delph will be 22 different scarecrows, starting at the Millgate Arts Centre then up to the A62 crossroads, past the Old Bell Inn, on to Hillend and up Delph Lane. The route carries on to Denshaw Road before reaching Clifton Holme, turning down Pingle Lane and then heading back to the village centre via the Chapel Gardens.
The lifesize creations each represent a hero or villain from history or fiction, and trailblazers are set the task of naming them all.
The event, which runs until June 9, will raise money for the running costs of Delph Library and other community projects. Trail guides (£1.50) are available from Delph Post Office, the library and Delph Co-op.
