ORGANISERS of Oldham’s annual Big Lunch event are hoping to get more people involved this year.
The scheme, led by the Eden Project, is designed to bring communities together. Up to 400 people are expected to take part in the lunch and activities at the Mahdlo Youth Zone on June 2.
Andrea Greenwood, who helped organise the event, said: “It’s a chance for the community to come together for soft drinks, sandwiches, samosas and cup cakes.”
Thousands of events have taken place across the country since the Big Lunch idea began in 2009; 8.5 million people joined in last summer for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.
