Dad lay dead for five months

THE body of a loving father lay undiscovered at his flat in Alt for nearly five months.
Timothy Dyson (39) was last spotted by a neighbour at Furness Avenue on April 17, 2012, an inquest heard yesterday.
Unemployed Mr Dyson, who was divorced, was bipolar and suffered from depression. He had previously taken overdoses and had a drink problem — but told his mother when last saw her at Christmas that he had stopped drinking.
She tried unsuccessful to contact the former warehouse worker over several months. His body was discovered on September 12 after a neighbour raised concerns.
Empty cider and whisky bottles were found, and an empty medicine packet. Unopened mail behind the front door was dated from April 19.
Mr Dyson was too badly decomposed for a cause of death to be determined.
Recording an open verdict, coroner Simon Nelson said: “It is desperately sad and shocking that in this so-called caring society there are individuals who are still very much alone.”
