More than 300 Oldhamers turned up for the Big Lunch event at Mahdlo yesterday.
The community initiative, led by the Eden Project and the Halifax brings together people of all ages for a free meal and a chat.
Asda donated juice, Kingsmill donated bread and 25 volunteers from Halifax branches across Greater Manchester gave up hours of their time to make and serve meals.
Halifax branch manager Andrea Greenwood, who helped to organise the event, said she was very pleased with the turnout: “It is great to do this in a community venue like this. Mahdlo has been very supportive of this event.”
