TAKE that . . . Tracey Barlow slaps a pie on Mark Walker
A FUN-LOVING mum is to fight for charity... with custard pies.
Armed with 4,000 pies, Greenfield’s Tracey Barlow aims to make an unofficial bid to notch up the highest number of people throwing pies as part of her 50th birthday celebrations.
She is even hiring a cement mixer to mix the slosh for the pies, which will be hurled on paper plates during “Operation Custard Fight” — a fun day she is staging at Uppermill sports club on Sunday.
The official Guinness world record for the stunt was set in Texas when 684 took part and mum-of-two Tracey believes she has inspired her family, relatives and friends to join the battle to raise her £2,000 target for Cancer Research.
“I didn’t want my birthday this year to be about me,” she said. “I wanted to give something back.
“So many people have been been affected by cancer it seemed a worthwhile cause. And, added to the fact I have always fancied throwing custard pies — I think it comes from watching all those black and white slapstick films when I was a child.”
All participants can pay £2 on the day and will be provided with disposable ponchos. But Tracey is in desperate need of flour, custard powder and bins.
