One held in demo at war memorial
Date published: 03 June 2013
OLDHAM police kept a group of around 50 far-right protesters in order when they demonstrated near Oldham war memorial on Saturday afternoon.
The event was the latest attempt by the English Defence League to exploit the murder of Middleton soldier Lee Rigby. One man was arrested for an alleged breach of the peace.
Greater Manchester Police also policed demonstrations and peace walks in Manchester city centre, Bolton and Rochdale, where there were no incidents of violence or arrests made.
