Adam’s walkers help raise £1,000

BLISTERS didn’t stop an army of 15 fundraisers completing a sponsored walk with brave Adam McQuillan.

Adam spent 10 weeks in a coma and eight months recovering in hospital after he was knocked down in a road accident near his Roundthorn home in 2011.

The 10 year old, who set up Adam’s Wish to improve the lives of those involved in similar traumas, was joined by mum Anita and 13 friends to walk from Manchester Children’s Hospital to Uppermill Museum on Sunday.

They set off at 9.30am and finished at 2pm - with the only stop for a member of the team to buy a new pair of shoes.

So far the group has collected £1,000, which will go to a charity providing seriously ill children with trips to Florida.

Anita said: “We are all really tired and it was really hard work pushing Adam in the wheelchair up the hills. But it was definitely worth it.”

The youngster’s next charity event is an auction and music night at the Stanley Road Club on Sunday, September 8.
