A STUN GUN and a makeshift weapon were discovered in a car driven by a son with his mother who went on a “joint enterprise” of threatening behaviour, Oldham magistrates heard.

Lynn Badby and Stephen Edge each pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon.

Badby (40) admitted to brandishing a lock knife at a man both defendants believed had previously stolen Edge’s motorbike.

The victim’s partner saw Edge driving a Volkswagen Polo slowly past the front window of their home in Raper Street, Greenacres. Badby was in the passenger seat and there was a third unidentified man in the car.

The victim arrived and threatened Edge not to do harm to his daughter or partner. Badby, of Keats Road, Oldham, got out of the car holding the knife and shouting: “He’ll get what’s coming.”

Police found a stun gun underneath the driver’s seat and a cosh - made from a cricket ball attached to a shortened pool cue.

Badby admitted possessing the stun gun, which she claimed was for protection.

Toni McCann, defending, said her client’s intention was to “scare” the victim, not use the knife.

Edge (24), of Roundthorn Road, Oldham, told officers the cosh was in his car for protection.

District Judge Richardson ordered the case to be dealt with at the crown court.
