Michael Meacher apology

UNDER a headline “Meacher to hand back profits” (May 10) Chronicle online reported that Oldham West MP Michael Meacher was required by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) to repay profits on the capital gain on his home in the constituency.

We made this entirely incorrect assertion after misreading the IPSA notice - in fact the notice made it clear Michael Meacher was not required to pay anything.

We apologise unreservedly to Mr Meacher for the mistake.
