A DRUNK was given a 12-month community order and 120 hours unpaid work for assaulting police in Oldham town centre.
Christopher Albert resisted arrest after pushing his partner to the ground, Oldham magistrates heard. The 30 year old, of Camberwell Way, Royton, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and a public-order offence.
PCs Cullen and Addison went to the fallen woman’s aid and Albert flailed his arms to avoid arrest.
After running off and being caught, he swung out and hit PC Cullen on the right arm and PC Addison in the mouth.
The defendant admitted drinking up to eight pints of lager before the incident and was ordered to pay each injured officer £50 compensation.
