ALWAYS remembered, Jamie Heaton, who lost his life in the gas blast
A SPECIAL concert is being held to mark the first anniversary of Jamie Heaton’s death.
The toddler was killed in the gas explosion that destroyed his Buckley Street home in Shaw.
Jamie’s parents Michelle and Kenny Heaton and their supporters are trying to raise £50,000 for his memorial fund — Jamie’s Something Special — to provide new playground equipment at Bullcote park, where the youngster took his first steps.
The family concert for Jamie, at Royton Cricket Club will include 10 bands and other attractions and auctions.
Michelle’s aunt Sylvia Robinson said: “The fund is at £15,000 now, which is absolutely brilliant.
“I’m expecting this event to be fantastic because we’ve had so many people offering to entertain that we’re now having to turn some away!”
The Concert for Jamie starts at 2pm on June 22. Entry is £2 for adults and £1 for children.
Crompton Primary School and other schools in the area have agreed to hold a non-uniform day to raise money for the fund.
Kenny and Michelle and their two remaining children Jodie and Jack have now moved to a new home in Royton.
