Convoy pays fitting tribute to farmer Rex

SHAW farmer Rex Wild was given a fitting send-off by friends and family at his funeral.
Rex’s coffin was taken to Oldham Crematorium in a tractor - followed by a convoy of Land Rovers and Range Rovers.
Mr Wild (60) grew up at Middle Fullwood Farm, Shaw, still owned by the family. He built a house there but moved to High Crompton eight years ago/
Rex was an engineer at Stott Benham in Royton for around 20 years before working for the family’s business, Waterton Engineering in Chadderton.
Aftr a long illness Mr Wild finally succumbed to cancer at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royton on May 30. He leaves his wife, Joyce, son Dale, five brothers and a sister.
Dale said: “All the family are farmers and my dad was a farmer growing up. We just thought it was a fitting tribute.
“Dad was very caring, with a dry sense of humour and always up for a laugh. A really well-liked person. Anything to do with farming and Land Rovers was his passion.
“You would never have known he had cancer until the last year..”
