Travellers move from dairy site

TRAVELLERS who set up camp on the site of a former Failsworth dairy have been evicted thanks to a swift response from the council and police.
Five caravans and eight cars arrived at Dairy Crest in Ridgefield Street at 6pm on Saturday. The travellers broke padlocks on the gates to gain access.
Residents informed the council and police and a meeting was held on site yesterday to start eviction proceedings. The site owners have now secured the site.
Barry Thomason, who’s home backs onto the site, said: “The travellers set up a generator that makes a lot of noise and there were lots of children making noise and dogs barking.”
