A ROYTON man has admitted setting fire to cars in a New Year’s Day arson spree.

Twenty eight-year-old Liam Siddall’s rampage in Royton and Shaw during the early hours of New Year’s Day caused tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage.

He pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to seven counts of arson and is now likely to face prison.

Siddall, of Chapel Lane, Royton, also admitted a count of affray, hours before his arson run.

Siddall was remanded in custody until his sentencing at Minshull Street Crown Court, on August 15.
