SHAW grandfather Martin Pickering is on a money-making mission to raise £5,000 for his 17-month-old grand-daughter.
Holly Needham has cerebral palsy and finds it difficult to eat, talk and walk. Mr Pickering, who runs the Bulls Head pub in Heyside, wants to raise the money for special treatment not available from the NHS.
So far Martin, and Holly’s mum and dad Sarah Pickering and Thomas Needham, have raised £1,500, and other activites are planned.
He said: “We know she is never going to fully recover with this condition, but the advice from doctors is the more we can do now, the better it will be. We really want to give this treatment a go, but it’s just so expensive.
“I have been overwhelmed by the response from everyone; most of the people who have contributed so far don’t know us.”
Martin has a charity day at the pub on August 25. Find out more at www.facebook.com/Holly NeedhamCP.
