Cop killer’s grenade stash in Glodwick drain

A STASH of grenades thought to belong to vile cop killer Dale Cregan was found hidden in a storm drain in Oldham, the Chronicle can reveal.
An explosive device team recovered a bag of 10 M75 grenades in Onchan Avenue, Glodwick.
Scores of police officers flooded Glodwick on June 3 to seize the haul, which can only now be reported following the trial’s end.
The grenades were the same as those thrown in the gruesome murders of PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bones and father and son David and Mark Short.
The artillery, from the former Yugoslavia, was used by Serbian forces in the early 1990s.
Police chiefs in Greater Manchester said they believed they had now recovered all the grenades from Cregan’s stash.
Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Shenton, head of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Crime Division, said: “The use of grenades in the horrific, brutal and callous murders shocked everyone.
“These are military weapons. The stigma of their devastating impact will loom over this city for some time.”
