Emma takes over as Youth Mayor
Date published: 17 June 2013
STUDENT Emma O’Donnell will officially take over the reins as Oldham’s Youth Mayor tonight.
The 19 year old, who is studying psychology at Sheffield University, has been a member of the youth council for four years.
During that time, the former Blue Coat School pupil has travelled down to the House of Commons to participate in a debate on the issues that affect Oldham’s young people and, as a member of Oldham’s Co-operative Commission, Emma has helped youth projects across the borough through her involvement with the Kerrching Youth Opportunity Fund.
As part of her role as Youth Mayor Emma will carry out civic duties alongside the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor John Hudson, and will represent the borough’s young people at a variety of community events over the coming year.
