NEW role . . . Emma O’Donnell
A NEW voice of Oldham’s youth has taken office.
Student Emma O’Donnell (19) was appointed Youth Mayor of the borough at a prestigious mayor-making ceremony at Oldham Civic Centre last night.
Over the next year Emma will carry out civic duties alongside the Mayor, Councillor John Hudson, and will represent the borough’s young people at community events.
The teenager, from Stalybridge, said: “I may not be Oldham born and bred, but Oldham is in my heart.
“I will continue to represent young people and voice their opinion.”
Emma, Oldham’s fifth youth mayor, took over from Josh Payne (19), of Royton.
Josh called his time meeting the great and good of Oldham an “eye-opening” experience: “It’s been brilliant to see all the things that go on in Oldham, because there is a lot of outstanding work.”
