Singles in council-tax spotlight
Date published: 19 June 2013
OLDHAM Council is reviewing householders who claim the single person council tax discount to ensure its records are up to date.
Currently almost 34,500 households claim the 25 per cent discount.
Councillor Abdul Jabbar said: “We believe the majority of discounts are claimed legitimately. But there may be times where a household’s circumstances change and residents forget to tell us their eligibility should end.”
He added that people who may be eligible should also contact the council on 770 6622 or through the council website.
