Given the boot! Oldham’s latest floral masterpiece
GREENFINGERS at Oldham Council are full of beans with their clever entry for this year’s Bloom and Grow contest.
Last year Oldham won the best city trophy in the Britain in Bloom awards.
And now the authority is trying to claim some titles at North-West in Bloom 2013, whose theme is “edible Britain”.
This year Oldham’s wow factor is a giant boot, which refers to the magic beans from Jack and the Beanstalk, this year’s Coliseum panto.
The boot is the first feature of this year’s competition, opposite Spindles Shopping Centre.
Through the summer the council will be holding more Bloom and Grow-themed events. A Bloom and Grow photo-competition is already up and running, for people to take snaps that celebrate Oldham’s greener side.
Judges for North-West in Bloom will be visiting Oldham on July 8.
