THE Chronicle has again joined the town centre Best Bar None scheme, which improves safety at Oldham’s pubs, bars and nightclubs.
The nationwide scheme promotes responsible drinking, and has cut alcohol-related crime and disorder while reducing demand of police manpower.
Chronicle readers will be able to vote for their top bar when voting gets underway from August.
Last year 20 town-centre premises applied for accreditation; this year up to 25 are expected.
Applicants are judged on crime prevention strategy, door policy, emergency procedures, drink and drugs policies and community engagement.
Last year, Tokyo Project was overall winner and best club. The Ashton Arms scooped the Chronicle readers’ award, Number 15 won best bar, and Snipe Inn won best pub award.
