SOME of the illegal cigarettes and alcohol seized in Oldham
OLDHAMERS have played a part in driving out traders in illegal cigarettes and alcohol.
In the past three years, Trading Standards and Inland Revenue officers have seized more than 55,000 cigarettes and 70 kilos of rolling tobacco from premises across the borough.
The seizures included counterfeit and non-duty-paid products which can’t legally be sold in the UK.
In most cases the authorities were following up on information provided by the public.
Anyone with information regarding the sale of illegal tobacco can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111, Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 08454-040506 or the Trading Standards North West Illicit Tobacco Team on 01925-442466.
