OPPOSITION . . . Councillor Jean Stretton at Asda, Hollins Road, close to the Ladbrokes site
COUNCILLORS have asked for a crime report before they make a controversial decision to allow or deny a new betting shop.
Ladbrokes has submitted a plan to open the business in an empty unit inside the building currently home to Asda in Hollins Road.
It claims the business would bring new jobs. But the plan has been met with opposition from local residents and Councillor Jean Stretton.
Councillors have deferred a decision so they can check on the amount of crime in the area and other factors.
