AN Oldham College student has been selected as one of only six finalists for the National Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Jacob Knowles is in the running to receive the highest accolade from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, the organisation founded by entrepreneur and TV “Dragons’ Den” star Peter Jones.
He recently presented his idea for a sailing accessories company, “JK Sail”, to the judging panel — led by Peter Jones and leading business and education figures - before answering questions about his business plans.
Jacob said: “The final was easily one of the best experiences in my life. An opportunity to pitch my business and myself to professionals at the top of their industries doesn’t come around too often.”
Shazia Afzal, Business Enterprise Manager for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at Oldham College, said: “Jacob has a passion for business which is extremely clear and in an industry he is passionate about.”
The winner will be announced on July 9.
