OLDHAMERS will be able to influence a covenant that reaffirms the borough’s pride in the Armed Forces.
Oldham Council will mark Armed Forces Day tomorrow by announcing a plan to sign the Armed Forces Community Covenant, which will bring together local people and service personnel.
Oldham will ask serving military personnel, veterans and residents the chance to design how the covenant will work.
The formal signing will take palce in September at a ceremony to coincide with the unveiling of the renovated war memorial.
Once signed, communities across Oldham will be able to apply for grants from the £30m national Community Covenant Grant Scheme to mount projects aimed at involving service personnel in local community projects
