THE FIGHT goes on for a campaign group striving to save Crompton Pool.
Supporters have attended a public meeting at Shaw’s parish council offices to pledge their support to a voluntary organisation hoping to run the baths as a community trust. Friends of Shaw Baths say they have been inundated with support for their fight to save the baths, due to close next year.
Group secretary Joanne Lewis-Ryan called the public meeting “vital” to discovering what support was available.
She said: “There was quite a good turnout and already we have 23 people wanting to join us.
“We had a speaker from Community Leisure at Whitworth, which has been running the local pool as a community trust for eight years. They clearly show this can happen with enough community support.”
