Farmer’s shock over stolen flock

A FED-UP farmer is appealing for information after 20 of his sheep were stolen from his farm.

Harry Pollitt (69) moved his flock to a new field on White Slack Farm, Newhey, on Monday, June 24, but when the sheep were counted again on Sunday, 15 lambs and five ewes were missing.

“I have never seen anything on this scale before,” he said. Earlier in the year, two lambs were taken and we found their wool tangled on the wall but this is a huge number to have been stolen.”

The sheep were untied and taken from the farm, just off Huddersfield Road, sometime between Thursday, June 27, and Sunday.

He added that he has informed the police and they have been investigating the crime but had yet to discover the culprit.
