Drugs raids: five are arrested
Date published: 04 July 2013
ECSTASY tablets, ketamine, cannabis and MDMA were found during a series of drug raids in Oldham.
Four men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and have now been bailed pending further inquiries. A further two people were cautioned for possession of class B drugs following yesterday’s raids.
The raids are the latest phase of a local operation to target suspected criminals involved in the trafficking and supply of large amounts of class A drugs.
Officers from the Oldham Organised Crime Unit carried out six warrants and a further search of a property in the north Manchester area.
Target
There has been a number of arrests and charges over the past 12 months and a haul of more than a quarter of a million pounds in cash and drugs and mixing agents worth more than £3 million recovered.
Supt Nadeem Butt said: “These arrests are just the latest phase in an ongoing operation. We will continue to target criminals who line their pockets by peddling drugs, and using legislation we can also seize their assets that are paid for out of drug money.
“None of this would be possible without the help and support of the local community, and their information is absolutely vital to us.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
