Golf club captains and their friends and relatives will be taking a dive from the skies over Blackpool tomorrow to raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royton, and Willow Wood Hospice. Ashton.

They hope their sponsored jump from 11,000ft will raise thousands of pounds for the charities.

The skydivers are Peter Meggison and James Buckley, captains of Werneth and Crompton and Royton Golf Clubs respectively, Tracey Rowbotham, the wife of the ex-captain at Werneth, Ben and Lynda Simpson, the son and wife of Gary Simpson, the captain of Saddleworth Golf Club, whose charity for the year is Willow Wood Hospice, and Rachel Harrison, who works with Lynda.

Gary, who is not doing the jump, said: “I am the official photographer for the day! We are looking to raise a couple of thousand pounds.”
