Duck race is back!
Date published: 09 July 2013
Last year the weather was too wet for ducks!
An overflowing River Tame sank the first two attempts to stage the popular rubber duck race of the 2012 Saddleworth Summer Show: it wasn’t until a third try several weeks later that the ducks finally got their swim.
But the race is back and rounds off the bill at this year’s show at Saddleworth School, Uppermill, on Saturday and Sunday. The race is on the river at Churchill playing fields from 4.30pm on Sunday.
Brian Fort, the show’s publicity officer, said: “The race creates a lot of interest but unfortunately the river was just too fast-flowing last year.”
