A 10-year community investment programme in Clarksfield, Greenacres and Littlemoor will be launched on Monday.
The Big Local programme will invest up to £1 million, and Monday’s launch event at the Holt Street council offices (behind Hill Stores) at 5pm will reveal plans for the first £74,000.
Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Big Local supports local people in their attempt to make their home area a better place to live.
Steph Gill of Oldham Play Action Group and Greenacres Community Centre, said: “We asked what makes local people proud and happy. This new approach got us thinking about our strengths and how to build on them.”
The £74,000 plan for the first year includes 10 community events, a £15,000 grant fund for community groups, free IT training for local people, support for a community cinema and other ideas.
