A song inspired by a brave cancer battle will motivate thousands taking part in this weekend’s Race for Life

Moorside’s Callum Dalloway (20) and Pauline Rigby (33) have written and produced “Run Together” to spur on the runners

The friends, of Mollis Grove, got together to write the song when Pauline confided that one of her cousins had been diagnosed with the disease.. The songwriter decided to put his friend’s emotions into music.

Pauline was so touched by the result that she offered to sing on the track.

They sent the finished recording to Cancer Research - and the charity has decided to play it to the crowd in Heaton Park before Sunday’s two 5k runs.

Solicitor Pauline said: “Callum came to me with the idea of the song because he knew I was going to be running Race for Life with my family.

“The lyrics were so touching I got upset and a bit overwhelmed — but I thought it was brilliant.

Songwriter Callum, who works at a law firm, said: “I’m really good friends with Pauline so when she told me about her cousin I started thinking about what I could do.

“The lyrics just came to me. It’s been a great project to work on, and now it’s been picked up by Race for Life I have been absolutely blown away.”

The pair are now trying to raise extra money with the track by offering a download for a £1 donation and the track of CD for £5.
