A day to remember!
Date published: 16 July 2013
OYEZ, oyez . . . the annual Chadderton Day in Foxdenton Park was proclaimed a “day for celebration” by deputy Chadderton town crier Phil Buckley.
And that’s exactly what it was with a range of attractions from barn owls and karts to charity craft stalls and traditional games.
The event was officially opened in glorious sunshine by Mayor of Oldham, Councillor John Hudson, and Mayoress Kathleen Hudson.
Their first duty was to crown the new Chadderton prince and princess, St Matthew’s Primary School pupil Harry Wall and Heidi O’Keeffe from Mills Hill Primary School — who later in the year will get to switch on Chadderton’s Christmas lights.
Chadderton Day is organised by volunteers from Chadderton Events Committee.
Secretary Christine Dennis said: “It has been a really good turnout — we couldn’t do it without the volunteers.”
