Metrolink’s town centre power lines switched on
Date published: 23 July 2013
OVERHEAD power lines along the Metrolink route into Oldham town centre went live for the first time in the early hours of yesterday.
The overhead lines carry a direct current of 750 volts.
The lines are being switched on intermittently as part of the testing process.
Officials say that while they will not be live at all times, they should be treated as such.
