Teenager warns over ‘tombstoning’
Date published: 23 July 2013
A SPRINGHEAD family has warned against the dangers of “tombstoning” after a 14-year-old suffered serious leg injuries at Dovestone Reservoir.
Ryan Kitsos, from Oldham Road, was dramatically rescued by a boat from the near-by sailing club on July 13 after he plunged on to rocks.
The Saddleworth School pupil slipped as he ran to throw himself off a cliff edge into the water and broke his ankle.
He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital and, following surgery, faces an anxious wait to see if there is any permanent damage.
Ryan is now urging others to take heed and see what happened to him as a warning of how things can go wrong.
